Manuela Strano - Treviso, Veneto
Manuela is the mother of two signing daughters: Teresa, born on November 2007 and Caterina, born on Jannuary 2010.
She has a degree on Education Science taken at the University of Rome 3 and since the beginning of her studying she developed a very special interest in deaf community and sign languages. She is now attending a post graduated program in Applied Behavioral Analysis and worked since 2005 with children affected by communication and developmental disorders implementing VB/ABA programs.
With great joy and enthusiasm (and breaking down many Italian cultural prejudices!) she started teaching ASL to her first daughter when she was 8 months, after watching Laura Berg’s videos on the web and she is now doing the same with her second one!
This very rich early communication experience is definitely contributing to the communication and cognitive development of her two daughters and now she is also using signs as a “bridge” to teach them foreign languages (English and Spanish).
She would like to share with other mothers her wonderful experience with sign language for babies, toddlers and preschoolers!
Manuela is our first My Smart Hands™ instructor in Italy. Classes will be taught in Italian, the songs will be in English and Italian, the materials in English.
Manuela will create a positive, supportive and fun environment making classes an entertaining experience for adults and children.
